What Is First Foods?
First Foods is an educational class led by occupational therapists who are child development and feeding experts. This course is for parents with babies who are transitioning to solid foods. The class is designed to provide information that supports parents’ understanding of their child’s development as it relates to feeding skill and participation and to help set families up for feeding and mealtime success.
What The Course Offers
First Foods offers guidelines for introducing solid foods and information related to readiness for solids, progression of solid foods from purees to table foods, sensorimotor development, and co-regulation. Individualized recommendations are provided during play observations with opportunities for follow-up questions and discussion. Parents will leave with tools to feel calm and confident during mealtime.

Who is this course for?
This course is appropriate for parents with babies who are between 4 and 10 months of age. Parents may be about to start introducing solids or in the process of transitioning to solid foods.
What is the structure of the course?
Class 1: September 3 from 10am to 11am (virtual via Zoom)
Class 2: September 17 from 10am to 11am (in-person at playSense)
Class 3: October 1 from 10am to 11am (virtual via Zoom)
Meet The Team
Dr. Audrey Trewin
Audrey has a clinical doctorate in occupational therapy and more than 20 years of experience working with children and supporting families. She specializes in feeding and helping parents create positive, enjoyable mealtime routines that feel realistic for everyday life. As a mom of two girls, as well as a clinician and educator, Audrey understands both the joy and the challenges that can come with helping little ones learn to eat. She brings practical guidance, compassion, and real-life understanding to support families in building confidence and connection at the table in today’s busy world.

Introducing solids is an exciting milestone, but it can also feel overwhelming. This course is designed to guide parents through every stage of their baby’s first food journey with confidence and ease. You’ll learn when and how to introduce solids, recognize signs of readiness, safely offer a variety of foods, and build healthy eating habits from the very beginning. From purees to baby-led weaning, allergy introduction, mealtime routines, and nutrition essentials, this course provides practical, evidence-based guidance to help make feeding your baby enjoyable, safe, and stress-free for the whole family.
Jillian received her doctorate of occupational therapy from the University of Southern California. She is passionate about helping children explore new foods, develop new skills, and thrive in everyday life. As a mother to an energetic toddler, she brings professional expertise and real-life parenting experience to her work with families. Outside of work, she enjoys beach days, family adventures, and soaking up every moment with loved ones.
